Happy Hanukkah! I went to figure out my birthday on the Hebrew calendar and it turns out it's on the day of the 3rd candle, 26th of Kislev 5737. Oh well, I guess I *was* a miracle...

and to you as well, my fine friend! got my candle lit over 'ere. I think I still need to get a better latke pan, though. thank goodness this holiday lasts 8 days - more time to procrastinate.

Does that chip keep time?

Kan: No gelt for you!

Heloisa: The days of the Hebrew calendar go from sundown to sundown, so the third candle is lit at the beginning of the 27th of Kislev. Maybe it's your birthday right now! Yom Haludet Same'ach! And Chag Sameach, too.

Eileen: It's trickly. I have yet to master the art, or to make latkes this Hanukkah -- but there is time. I'll keep you in the loop.

Jack: Here are the instructions. You turn it off and on to advance the day, but there's also a demo mode in which it increments the day once per second, so presumably you could reprogram the microcontroller to show you the time in binary. With only nine LEDs it would be tricky. You'd need at least four to display twelve hour values, and that leaves only five LEDs, or thirty-two values, for the minutes.
