We're Not Just KP Anymore!

Private Guards Repel Attack on U.S. Headquarters:

An attack by hundreds of Iraqi militia members on the U.S. government's headquarters in Najaf on Sunday was repulsed not by the U.S. military, but by eight commandos from a private security firm, according to sources familiar with the incident.

Before U.S. reinforcements could arrive, the firm, Blackwater Security Consulting, sent in its own helicopters amid an intense firefight to resupply its commandos with ammunition and to ferry out a wounded Marine, the sources said.

It occurs to me that the activities of the various merc corporations are probably even more obscured from the view of the american public than those of our armed forces.

I have been hearing, occasionally, that the four unfortunates whose charred and mutilated remains were displayed in Falujah were there as "security guards."

I find myself wondering if that grisly display was meant to communicate a warning against something that we haven't heard about.

I think those folks had to drive through a part of Fallujah they weren't planning on because of a road being shut down due to an IED.
