Today the NASDAQ Composite closed at 1943.09. This translates to February 2, 1943. On this day Nazi forces, not doing as well, surrendered to the Soviets after the Battle of Stalingrad.

A nice thing about your rules for translating NASDAQ indeces into dates is that you do get access to the entire year.
Posted by: Cliff at March 18, 2004 09:53 AMI believe it would be 8 PM on February 2nd, because 32.85 - 31 is 1.85 days into February, or all of Feb 1st, plus a fraction into Feb 2nd.
I do get my dates spread out over the entire year, but I can still only get 100 possible dates, so some days still don't have a chance. I think that's unavoidable, though.
I've been making a subtle mistake, though. I was doing 365.25 * 0.09, say, but you're right, it should just be 365 * 0.09, unless it's a leap year, in which case it should be 366 * 0.09. It makes no sense to use the average year length.
