Radio Heritage

Random observation: I can't recall the last time NPR used a soundbite from a Heritage Foundation member (they probably have), but I did just hear one on tonight's Free Speech Radio News broadcast -- carried on WPFW, the local Pacifica affiliate -- regarding the true cost of the recent Medicare reform bill.

Yeah, imagine Medicare costing a lot of money? Who would have thought?

Seriously! Sure, the administration thought it would be a third more expensive than they were admitting, kept that secret, and threatened to fire somebody whose job it was to tell Congress the truth, but what's the big deal?

I doubt it would have made a difference, anyway. The vote wasn't even close: the Republicans only had to hold the roll call open for an unprecidented three hours to get it to pass.

man, something about trying to go to a story on the washington post website and seeing "Register, it's free and it's required" just makes me want to look for the same news, somewhere else.

That pisses me off, too, though I guess it's better than paying.
Mo turned me onto login "cpunks@cpunks.com" and pw "cpunks".
