Dear God

From the Post:

In a videotape recorded before the attack, Riyashi said: "I have two children and love them very much. But my love to see God was stronger than my love for my children, and I'm sure that God will take care of them if I become a martyr."

Meanwhile, Andrew pointed me to this shocking interview with Israeli "revisionist" historian Benny Morris:

That was the situation. That is what Zionism faced. A Jewish state would not have come into being without the uprooting of 700,000 Palestinians. Therefore it was necessary to uproot them. There was no choice but to expel that population. It was necessary to cleanse the hinterland and cleanse the border areas and cleanse the main roads. It was necessary to cleanse the villages from which our convoys and our settlements were fired on.

One day we will determine the genetic basis of religion, which will lead to the ability to "knock it out" if desired.

This posting unfortunately has little to do with historian Benny Morris. Carasso and I are in a rather not unpleasant bus station in Montevideo, Uruguay. We were just enjoying your musings on half-price calendars and crispy geometric cereals, and thought we'd say hey. We also have one request. We've found your commentaries to be generally balanced, which is why we were shocked to discover that, on every single issue you address, you fail to give the Uruguayan perpective. Please reconsider your biases, acknowledged or otherwise.

P.S. I am not a crackpot.

David and I are sitting at a Starbucks near the DC mall and while far removed from you and Adam, I believe the Columbian POV is missing. I drink this fine coffee that was grown by the poor people of that land and I wonder:

What Would Juan Do?

Another point of view that you have consistently failed to take into account is that of the people of Deesenuts. While it may be a small, salty nation covered in unkempt forest, the Deesenutsians deserve to have a voice. Or at least a little nibble.

On a more serious note, check this out:

Sharon using some amount of force to reign in Israeli settlers. I had thought that those people were his most ardent supporters.

I think those people seriously hate Sharon. But
this has happened before. He'll dismantle a few outposts, but more will spring up, and existing settlements will gobble up more land. This happened back when the Roadmap (remember that?) was all the rage.

I've been to Columbia, and I can tell you two things: 1) it ain't poor, and 2) I'm pretty sure it gets too cold in the winter to grow coffee there.

Dear David,

It has been eleven days since you have updated your web log. I don't know if you had been keeping track, but I did some subtraction, and I'm pretty sure that's right. Just an FYI.
