Things I've Learned
I've learned a few things within the last twelve hours. One of them is that Astro Boy can shoot bullets from his butt. To be accurate, a double barreled machine gun emerges from his butt, and the machine gun fires the bullets.
The other thing I'd like to report comes from an article in today's Haaretz: Jahanbakhsh Khanjani, a spokesman for Iran's Interior Ministry, said "The Islamic Republic of Iran accepts all kinds of humanitarian aid from all countries and international organizations with the exception of the Zionist regime [Israel]."
It's good to know there are some hatreds that no mere earthquake can tumble.
P.S. Some of you will say Astro Boy shoots from his hips. That's bullhockey. Look at the pictures.

I ate some pineapple just now. It was really good. I think I'll follow it up with some chocolate.

Posted by: MAGGIE at December 27, 2003 1:15 PMWhat's interesting about the comment from the Iranian minister (I thought they called their men of the cloth mullahs or something?[1]) was that I didn't find any mention of it in the WashingtonPost (though I have not been poring over it in the last few days) or any other non-Israeli publication (all right, I've only checked the WP and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in its dead tree edition, so I haven't exactly scoured the national media, but anyway). Now, some people close to me have this notion that Jews are basically in control of the media, and that this is why Israeli violence gets underreported or downplayed, while Muslims are painted as a barbaric culture, etc., etc. Yet this would seem to be a counterexample. It shows what the general American public would regard as an irrational, almost animal hatred on the part of Iranian Muslims, yet no one jumped on it.
